Bulusan Lake, Looking Forward to Another Visit

While browsing some of my photos on the hard drive, I came across these memorable snapshots taken during our visit to Bulusan Lake in the province of Sorsogon.

It was the first time that I reached the place and hopefully, it wouldn't be the last. I know there may be some changes already in the place, but I decided to write this post to reminisce the memories of the good old days.

It has been four years when I visited the place with my colleagues as part of our team building activity. I am visiting Bulusan from time to time but not on the exact location. That is why I didn't have the chance to see the same beautiful lake. Well, probably in the coming days or months, I don't know as of yet.

The Bulusan Lake

Bulusan Lake is located at the municipality of Bulusan in the province of Sorsogon, Philippines. The lake is the heart of the Bulusan Volcano National Park, a protected land area of the rainforest surrounding the Mount Bulusan, an active volcano.

The place has been made even more popular when the country's most popular celebrity couple, Senator Chiz Escudero and actress, Heart Evangelista has made their prenup photoshoot.

Many tourists, both local and international would visit the lake to see the beauty and experience the feeling of being close to nature. Several activities can be done while in the vicinity. You can enjoy kayaking or using the aqua cycles to navigate the lake or trek around the circumference of the lake which would usually take about an hour.

Visiting Bulusan Lake is easy. If you are coming into the Bicol Region from another place you may visit the place via air travel and the first place you would reach would be the Legazpi City Domestic Airport.which is located at Washington Drive Legazpi City. From the airport, you can rent a tricycle going to Daraga Van terminal or to Legazpi City Van Terminal.

Having Legazpi City as the starting point, it would take around 2-3 hours before you could reach Bulusan depending on several factors such as traffic caused by current road repairs and construction. The fastest way is to rent a van from the Daraga or Legazpi City Van terminal to the place. This would be advisable if you are traveling with a group. You can rent the van for Php 2,500.00 ($   ) to Php3,000.00  ($  ) and you will reach the place faster.

However, if you are traveling alone you may take the passenger van to Sorsogon City. You can transfer to a passenger jeepney at the terminal near the ChowKing Fast Food. You only have to pay more or less Php 250.00 ($  ). Of course, it would take you longer because the van and the jeepney will have to wait for other passengers.
